announce that following the successful staging of the annual
ASM @ Malaysia the AST will stage the 5th edition
of the annual ASM @ Malaysia tournament
from Wednesday 8th - Wednesday 15th July 2009
The 2009 ASM @ Malaysia presented by Oxley Capital Group
will be preceded by Private Corporate ASM Pro-Ams
to be staged over 4 days.
Thursday 9th and Saturday 11th at Tasik
Puteri GCC and on
Friday 10th and Sunday 12th July
2009 at the Saujana
GCC
The 3 day 2009 ASM @ Malaysia Professional Tournament
will be staged on monday 13th, Tuesday 14th and Wednesday
15th July 09 at the Tasik
Puteri GCC who will also host ASM Pro-Ams for
their Members in conjunction with AST Professional's practice
rounds, and the Annual Pan-Malaysia Amateur Qualifier
Tournament - on Sun 12th July 09
The amatuer golfers can be of any gender, and at least
12 years of age, both individual and 3 person Pro-Am team

The successful 2008 ASM @ Malaysia - Tasik_Puter_GCC
was won by Sutep_Bunpimuk
from Thailand who managed to close and later reversed
local favourite M_Ramayah
from Malaysia 2 stroke lead on the final day to emerge
as this year’s ASM @ Malaysia Champion.
Sutep shot 74 on the final day returning
221 beating the ASM @ Malaysia's leader for the first 2 days,
Ramayah by 3 strokes who shoot a final day 79 returning

from the Philippines and Lai_Chung_Hui from Taiwan emerging joint 3rd returned

ASM @ Malaysia - Tasik Puteri GCC where Sutep
will put to the test by worthy adversaries in defense of his
ASM @ Malaysia Champion's title
The 2007 ASM @ Malaysia - PGCC
was won by Chen_Tsang_Te
from Taiwan who managed a final round 68, including
a birdie on the 18th hole, he beat local favourite M_Ramayah
from Malaysia playing in the same flight, who also
birdied his last hole. Chen returned an ASM @ Malaysia and
an AST record winning score of 10 under par 206, beating Ramayah
by only a single stroke.
The 2006_ASM_@_Malaysia_-_Palm_Garden_GC was won by defending Champion, Australian / Malaysia
resident Stewart_Ginn
claiming his second ASM @ Malaysia Champion's title after
his convincing triumph at the inaugural ASM @ Malaysia
- Palm Resort GCC staged in 2005
Stewart valiantly defended
his 2005 ASM @ Malaysia Champion's title, winning a sudden
death play off at the 2006 ASM @ Malaysia - Palm Garden
Golf Club against Thailand's Amporn Manerat to once
again emerged the Champion, it was unfortunate that due to
a conflict in schedules he was unable to defend his ASM @
Malaysia Champion's Title at the recent 2007 ASM @
Malaysia - PGCC
The inaugural 2005
ASM @ Malaysia staged at Palm Resort - JB fielded
some 105 senior professionals, featuring some of the world's
finest senior professionals golfers, with invitations extended
to many of Asia's and the World’s top players and involved
some 600 amateur golfers.
Choi_Yoon_Soo
from Korea won the inaugural Asian Senior Masters @ Singapore
staged in 2003 at the Jurong Countru Club where he defeated Canadian John_Irwin
on the first hole of a sudden death play-off, sinking a 3
metre putt for a birdie on the par 5 18th to clinch the inaugural
Asian Senior Masters.
Tied for third place were 1st round leader Terry
Gale from Australia, 2nd round leader South
African Tienie
Britz and John
Benda from USA and they were followed in sixth
place at 2 under by Australian Mike
Ferguson Kuo
Chie-Hsiung from Taiwan and Mario

Since its humble beginning, in 2003 the Asian Senior Tour
have stage the following annual events, the ASM @
Taiwan, the ASM @ Malaysia, the ASM @ Singapore
and the Bi-Annual ASM @ Phuket event, and from the
75 foundation members who contested the inaugural
ASM @ Singapore in 2003 the AST now has representatives
from over 28 countries, and more than 400 members.
The AST's 2009 season begins in July 2009 with
the 5th edition of the annual ASM @ Malaysia and followed
in October by the 7th editions of annual ASM @ Taiwan
and ASM
@ Singapore
in early December and will end in late December with the inaugural
2009
ASM @ Brunei
The ASM event format allows many of Malaysia's,
Singapore’s and the Asian region’s leading amateur
golfers to compete in the ASM Amateur Finals, playing
alongside senior professional golfers in the first 2 days
of the ASM Professional tournament.
Asian Senior Master events showcase a mixture
of some of the best senior professional golfers from Australia,
Europe, South Africa and Asia and AST founder members
who have contested ASM tournaments staged between 2003
- 2008 have once again done AST the considerable
honour by confirming their intention to contest the 2009
ASM @ Malaysia tournament this coming July 2009.
The 2009 ASM will once
again host past ASM @ Malayian Champions & Finalists
along with past Malaysian Open Champions
including Terry_Gale
and Stewart_Ginn
and Brian_Jones
plus previous Malaysian Seniors Open Champions
including John_Clifford
and Mike_Ferguson

Seniors Tour, the Champions Tour, the South African, Australian

Winners of the various ASM @ Malaysia Pro-Ams secure
places in the Amateur Semi-Finals to be staged on the
Monday 13th & Tuesday 14th and the top 3 best gross scoring
golfers from each ASM Semi-Final will contest the
Amateur Finals on Wednesday 15th July T-ing Off prior
to the final day of the 2009 ASM @ Malaysia Professional
tournament
