Chan Soo Keong returning 78 and 77 for a 2 day score of 155 emerged as the Champion of the Srixon Desaru Classic 09 series presented by the Oxley Capital Group will be the first golfer to have his name engraved on the
OMBAK Challenge Trophy.
The Malay word OMBAK which when translated means WAVE in English is most appropriate given the idyllic seaside venue where the Grand Finals of the Srixon Desaru Classic 09 presented by the Oxley Capital Group staged at the Desaru Golf & Country Resort who once again played host to over a 100 golfers, comprising up to 5 representatives from each of the 18 qualifying rounds staged across Malaysia and in Singapore along with representatives from Brunei and Indonesia.
SK Chan representing the Black Forest Golf & Country Club  returned 155 and was followed by Azmi Akob from KDSM, Mohamed Hisham from TPGCR, Noraziman Saidin HGCC along with Salehan Othman and Zaidi Zakaria both from PSGR all returned 2 day scores of 156 tying for second place
Returning 157 and tied for third place were Abg Mohd Khalifah from EGCR, Arif Zaid from EGCR, Daeng Hakim from SGCC, Faizul Hafiz Zulkifli from HHGCC and Mohd Rafili Irafan from KGDK.
Asep from Tering Bay in Batam (Indonesia) who qualified for his place at the Oxley Capital Singapore Amateur Open - SDC 09 staged at the SICC's Island Course on 7 August 09 returned 158
Glen Clark who came second at the Oxley Capital Singapore Amateur Open - SDC 09 along with Rozali Baharudin from RJCC returned 159
The top 12 were then followed by Isa Gulzar from IGCC, Nazri Bin Husin from TPGCC, Roslaini Md Idrus from PSGR and Zul Deraman from KGDK who all returned 161
The organisers of the Srixon Desaru Classic 09 series presented by the Oxley Capital Group which follows on from where the 13 year old SASKE CUP leaves off wish to pay tribute to the SASKE CUP's founding father Dato Shahrir Abdul Samad who's vision and hard work are the inspiration for the current and most successful Srixon Desaru Classic 09 series presented by the Oxley Capital Group.
The organisers, players, supporters and many of the sponsors of the Srixon Desaru Classic series comprise avid golfers who between them hail from every State in Malaysia.
The annual pan-Malaysia Srixon Desaru Classic series was born in Johor and thanks to the kind support from Dato Esa that is where the Grand Finals will remain.
Many of the Srixon Desaru Classic's regular participants are from all walks of life, and while they may have the golfing skills to possibly turn professional, unfortunately they have jobs which more often than not will not allow them the time to pursue their golfing dreams, and or lack the financial where with all to cover the initial entry costs and survive their first years travel, hotel and other associated costs.
Thanks to the kind sponsorship support from our corporate partners the cost of entry charged for the Qualifying Rounds and the Grand Finals is very modest and so allows participation in the event to REALLY be affordable and open to all of Malaysias avid amateur golfers regardless of their socio economic status.
This year thanks, to the geenrous support from our corporate partners the Srixon Desaru Classic will be able to help this year's Champion by paying for his travel and accommodation costs as he takes the first steps on the road to becoming Malaysia's latest Professional Golfer on Tour.

At the Press Conference staged at Desaru GCR during the Grand Finals the organisers and sponsors of the annual Srixon Desaru Classic series presented by the Oxley Capital Group announced their plans for the expansion of the SDC 2010 series to include additional qualifier legs in other ASEAN countries including Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and Thailand.

Rules & Regulations
1) The Grand Finals of the Srixon Desaru Classic 09 presented by the Oxley Capital Group is a 2 day Stroke Play event.
2) Participants must play with Srixon golf balls ONLY! any type Srixon golf ball may be used, and must be declared on the first T Box, failure to do so will result in disqualification.
3) In the event that a Hole in 1 is achieved at the hole where the LMG Trekker SUV is offered as the prize, this prize will be shared equally between other participants from the Srixon Desaru Classic 09 presented by the Oxley Capital Group series who may have also achieved a Hole in 1
4) All play shall be in accordance with the rules of golf as approved by the R&A Golf Club of St. Andrews, the USGA and the prevailing local rules of the respective golf clubs.
